What you get next

The route wizard on the AM page gives the main line: which regime applies and which documents belong to it. This request is about your part. I read it and tell you whether it lends itself to additive manufacturing under the PED, where the sticking points are, and what a full feasibility check would cost in your case.

What the full check contains: assessment of the part against Annex I, the material route (harmonised, European approval for materials or a PMA), the qualifications you need, a testing and NDT plan, the file list and a lead time. Fixed price, agreed in advance.

Note: PED-Check is built from Dutch practice. The classification follows the directive and applies EU-wide; where national law is mentioned, that is Dutch law.

Frequently asked questions

What does the feasibility check cost?

The request is free. After it you receive a fixed price for the full check, matched to the part. I name that price before anything starts, and do not adjust it during the work.

What if my part turns out not to be suitable?

Then you hear so, with the reason. A part that does not lend itself to additive manufacturing is an outcome, not a failure — and it saves you the cost of a route that stalls at the notified body.

Is an additively made part allowed under the PED?

The directive does not prescribe a manufacturing process. What counts is that the equipment meets Annex I and that you demonstrate it. Because no harmonised AM standard exists, the material route in practice runs through Annex I point 4.2(b), third indent: a particular material appraisal. See the AM page.

What happens to my data?

It sits in your file and is used to handle your request. Retention 24 months; you can have your file deleted yourself on the file page. Nothing goes to third parties.
